Academic Writing Course: English for Academic Purposes
(Starting 5 August 2013)
The academic writing course is an induction to the necessary competencies of reading, text analysis, academic vocabulary, writing and critical thinking. The main emphasis is on reading and writing skills that are necessary for writing an academic paper or a research proposal in the academic English style.
The academic writing course is a stand-alone course but it will be compulsory for those who wish to apply for the course on Social Science Research Methodology and Proposal Writing which will be offered around July.
The duration of the course will be 16 weeks. Classes will be conducted for the first 12 weeks and the next two weeks will be devoted to completing the assignments. During the final two weeks, the participants will present their assignments.
The classes held every Monday and Friday, from 7:30 to 9:00 am.
The course fee is Rs. 8,000 which will include the cost of the reading packet and tea/coffee. Partial fee waivers may be available for deserving candidates after the completion of the course.
