One-day Qualitative Data Analysis Seminar
This one-day seminar provides an introduction to systematic and intensive analysis of qualitative data. The seminar will focus on organization/management of qualitative data for preparation for interpretation. The focus is on thematic analysis, which is the most often used qualitative analysis method. It covers the steps of transcription, data reduction, and coding of data, so that data can be presented in a format easy and ready for interpretation. It mostly deals with textual data, including interviews, field notes, and documents.
It is intended for researchers who are collecting/analyzing data now or in the near future, especially those working in the development sector and master’s/M.Phil./PhD. students. It will help researchers in analyzing qualitative data with simple Microsoft office tools such as Word and Excel, without the need to use overly expensive and complex QDA software.
This seminar is for introductory purposes. Detailed course/training on analyzing data will be available in the near future.
The fee is Rs. 750, which includes refreshments, handouts and software/apps related to transcription and analysis. Researchers are requested to bring their data (for example, transcripts/field notes, in soft or hardcopy) and laptop, if available, so that it is easier to understand the analysis process.
